Turn to God for help and guidance

PSALM 69

O Lord, My God, My Life’s a Wreck

O Lord, my God, my life’s a wreck

In sin I’ve sunk to murky depths.

The flooding tides rise to my neck

And nothing holds my slipping steps.

I call for help; my throat is dry.

My enemies make fun of me.

O Lord, I pray, please hear my cry

Deliver me from misery

Hide not your face from me, O Lord.

In mercy, Lord, turn not away.

Give answers true out of your Word.

Come rescue me without delay.

So praise the Lord with mighty song.

Let heaven and earth give praise to Him.

Know now that we to Him belong.

New life is Him can now begin.

God sent his Son here to be born.

The Savior comes to live our life.

And all he gets is human scorn.

In silence see Him take our strife.

Insults they hurl before his feet.

How brave he took their mockery

And when he died they yelled defeat.

They could not see God’s victory.

In this psalm David is a type of Christ.  A number of passage are quoted in the New Testament as references to Him.  We see in this psalm the suffering of Christ and his glory that follows.  As David Himself is under attack he nonetheless praises God with songs and words of thanksgiving.
