PSALM 39

I Am a Pilgrim, Lord

I am a pilgrim, Lord; a guest throughout this life.

Help me live by your Word; Free from all worldly strife.

REFRAIN

Come to Jesus; come to Jesus

Give your life to Him.

To heaven he will lead you, gently lead you;

 where peace and harmony live.

My life is in your hands; my only hope’s in you.

I’ve followed all of your plans.  To you I have been true

REFRAIN

I travel on life’s way; My Jesus is my friend.

And each and every day, he’s with me to the end

REFRAIN

Frail as I am, O Lord; you know about my fears

True you are to your Word; You wash away all tears,

REFRAIN

The Lord hears my complaints; He listens silently

Still I’m one of His saints, because of Calvary

This psalm highlights the struggle between grace and grumbling.  David struggled with the sin of complaining before realizing that life is too short to waste his time on such things.  Turning to God he acknowledges him as the only source of help to overcome his weaknesses and sins.
