We have contentment when we trust in God

psalm11-allmytrust.jpg

PSALM 11

All My Trust in God

All my trust in God e’er shall be,

Though others try to make me flee.

His presence makes me feel most free.

Contentment is his gift to me.

All I do on earth God will see;

While others cause me misery.

God’s rule from heav’n brings harmony.

Contentment is his gift to me.

Law and order I cannot see

When evil makes the righteous flee.

O Lord, help me to ever see.

Contentment is your gift to me.

In his temple the Lord shall be.

I come each day his grace to see.

He sent his Son to make me free.

Contentment is his gift to me.

David is having a hard time maintaining his trust in God as the repeated attacks

from Saul assault him.  Yet all these attacks only drive him to the arms of God all

the more.  In good times we tend to take God for granted.  Adversity causes us to

review the principles of our faith, beginning with “the Lord is in his heaven.”

There, on his throne, he still rules and will in the end bring those of us faithful to

Christ into his eternal kingdom and wreak upon all evil doers the final

punishment.  What can give contentment more than that!
