PSALM 9

Come to the Lord, be Filled with Joy

Come to the Lord, be filled with joy.

With all your heart give Him your praise.

Let all the world know you enjoy

God’s company throughout your days.

The Lord his will he shall employ

Whene’er we fail, with us he stays

He sent his Son a baby boy

To die for all our sinful ways.

Christ came to earth to do God’s will.

He died for us, to sin forgive.

He gave his Word our hearts to fill;

He showed us how we are to live.

The Lord will not forsake us now

His ear is open when we cry

To watch o’er us this is his vow,

“I’m at your side to fortify.”

But woe to those who Him deny

His judgment he will then apply;

For sin there is no alibi

Christ’s love alone with satisfy.

To God alone sing out your praise.

He lives forever on his throne.

Before the world your voices raise,

All glory be to God alone.

David praises God for leading him to victory over his enemies.  Certainly we can apply this to the ultimate victory of Christ over the enemies of the devil, the world and our own human sinful nature against which we fight every day.
