PSALM 143

You are, O Lord, the perfect One

Without your light I cannot live.

Show me the course that I should run

And know my sins you will forgive

Answer my prayer, Lord, hear my plea

And judge me not for what I’ve done

Lead me to you and set me free

The vict’ry Christ for us won.

I want to be your servant, Lord

And live with you in one accord

What you have done I can’t afford

My Jesus has my life restored.

Hide not your face, O Lord, from me

Remind me of your steadfast love.

Help me your servant thus to be

Your Son’s the gift sent from above.

David complains about his troubles and his own weakness of spirit under them.  Then he prays that God would hear him and not judge him nor hide his faced from him, but guide and direct the course of his life delivering him from the cause of his troubles.  Is this not a prayer for spiritual blessings, the granting of which comes through the gift of God’s Son, our Savior, Jesus Christ?
