PSALM 146

Almighty God, We Praise Your Name

Almighty God, we praise your name

We give you thanks with all our breath.

You are the One; you are the same

You’re at our side in life and death.

Trust not in any other one.

For all are subject to decay.

But trust in him who sent his Son

Who took all fear and sin away.

In God alone we put our hope

Like Jacob did in days of old

God comes to help when we can’t cope

He rescued us as was foretold.

To each of us the Lord gives gifts

For us to use; as well to give.

Christ’s greatest gift is when he lifts

To heaven where we all can live.

He comes to us in our distress

And cares for all in time of need

The widow and the fatherless

And all who hear his Word and heed.

God’s power stands forever sure

He rules o’er all things he has made

    Above all else his love is pure
