Turn to the Lord in Prayer

Psalm141score.jpg

Psalm 141

Lord, I Come in Prayer

Lord, now I come in prayer meek

All evil thoughts please take away.

Let not my mouth more evil speak.

Nor follow sinner in their way.

Lord, I know not where else to go

I need your help to overcome

These sins your Son came me to show

Without your help I would succumb.

There is no one, Lord, quite like you.

I look for help each day.

My refuge be; keep me in view

That from your ways I do not stray.

Lord, may your name be ever blest.

Your justice reign o’er all the earth.

You have reached out to end our quest

For life and peace through your Son’s death.

To you, O Lord, my eyes are turned

When evil men their traps do set

For guidance my heart has burned

As all my needs you truly met.

David’s prayer rises out of his great distress as he seeks mercy to accept what he does well and grace to keep him from doing wrong.
