Psalm 138

Before the World I Sing Your Praise

Before the world I sing your praise

I love you, Lord, with all my heart.

Because I live beneath your gaze

I know from me you’ll ne’er depart.

Above reproach your honor stands

Your promise is to hear my prayer

You are the King of all the land

We live within your love and care.

When trouble comes you stand with me

I never feel like I’m alone

Because you hear my every plea

To you each day I’ve closer grown.

The Lord has set me on my way

In steadfast love he gives me tasks

He wants my life to always say

Fail not to do the work he asks.

The day will come when all will sing

Of God the Father’s glorious ways.

And kings with shouts of joy will ring;

God blesses all throughout their days.

God’s goodness to David prompts his response of thankfulness coupled with his own remembrance of how God comforted him in times of trouble.
