Our salvation is through the suffering and death of Jesus

PSALM 129

O Lord, you are the righteous one

O Lord, you are the righteous one

Who wants us all to be your own.

In love you sent your only Son

To lead us to your heavenly throne.

Yet he, oppressed by evil men

Who whipped him hard and crowned his head;

Hung on the cross and looked at them,

“Forgive them, Father,” what he said.

Thus he has freed us from the depths

Of sin that drives us far from him.

O, turn to him who guides your steps

And lights your way when all is dim.

Without the Lord temptation wins

And we are lost and feel disowned.

But Jesus came to take our sins

And by his death for them atoned.

So blest are we by what he’s done,

Our hearts rise up to sing his praise.

From death he rose to make us one

To walk with him throughout our days.

A Psalm of confidence, based on past experiences, that enabled the children of Israel to look with thanksgiving for God’s deliverance from our many troubles now and in the future.  How about us who have experienced God’s greatest deliverance in Jesus Christ.
