Psalm 124

Had Not the Lord Been on Our Side

Had not the Lord been on our side

Then to our sins we would succumb.

And evil would in us reside;

But thanks to God our help has come

Had not the Lord been on our side

The evil one would us attack.

Against all wrong we would collide;

But thanks to God, he held us back.

Had not the Lord been on our side

We’d be engulfed in floods of sin.

It’s raging tides sweep us aside.

But thanks to God, he took us in.

Our help is in the God of love

Who made the heav’ns and all the earth.

He sends his goodness from above.

And through his Son gives lasting worth.
