PSALM 5

Our Prayers Ascend to You, O Lord

Our prayers ascend to you, O Lord.

To you alone our heads we bow

Each day we look up heavenward

To our requests you’ll listen now.

Your tolerance of our sin is nil

And evil can’t sojourn with you.

Yet when we go against your will

Still you are there us to pursue.

When evil tempts our faithfulness

And looks so good, we often yield.

God puts a stop to restlessness

He then protects us with his shield.

The Lord despises those who lie

And wickedness he will destroy

All deception he does decry

But faithfulness brings Him great joy.

The love of Christ melts my sick heart

And from sin leads me far away

Because of Him I’ll ne’er depart

Though Satan tempts me every day.

In righteousness, O Lord, lead me

Make your way clear in all I do.

While some disrupt all harmony

Help me to keep your will in view.

Let all who trust in you rejoice;

Lord, with great joy we all now sing.

Our praise we lift with one great voice.

To your good name they soundly ring.
