PSALM 88

Listen to me, Lord, hear my cry

Listen to me, Lord, hear my cry.

Right now I think you have withdrawn

In troubled times I wonder why

When all is bleak you seem far gone.

I weep before you day and night.

At times I feel you do not care.

I try to do all that is right.

Come rescue me; my life repair.

I thank you, Lord, you did reveal

Your larger plan for all of yours.

You sent your Son our lives to heal.

He helps us steer a proper course.

All praise to you, our Lord and King.

You are a bright and shining light.

Salvation now to us you bring

You are the God of power and might

A psalm of very personal mourning without the usual compliment
of joyful and comforting words.  What can be said positively is that
his lament is directed to the source of salvation, Almighty God himself.
