PSALM 82

From Lofty Throne God Rules Us All

From lofty throne God rules us all

Appointing those he chose to lead

From Him alone they have their call

His desire is we give them heed.

Then blessings will upon us fall

And God will give us all we need.

Defend the poor; judge all aright

Leaders, this is the Lord’s demand.

Speak not of them with words of spite

But help each other understand

God put them there as his bright light

To bring his peace to our fair land.

But woe to those who lead astray

God’s chosen ones with unjust acts.

And woe to those who fall away

And fail to do their given tasks.

God’s judgment on their sinful way

Is they shall die for their attacks.

Arise, O God, and save us all

Stand by the weak and those in need

By your Son’s blood we shall not fall

For by his death he all men freed.
