PSALM 113

Thine is the Sunrise

Thine is the sunrise, thine is the sunset

Thine is the glory; thine the light

Thine is the praise; you paid our debt

Thine is the power; gone  the blight

Hallelujah! Hallelujah!

Hallelujah! Praise the Lord.

Thine are the heavens, thine is the whole earth

Thine are the hungry, thine the poor

Thine is the love that gave us birth

Thine is the strength; we shall endure

Hallelujah! Hallelujah!

Hallelujah! Praise the Lord.

Thine is the glory, Thine ever am I.

Thine is all mercy, thine all grace

Thine is the  Gospel from on high.

Thine is the heavenly resting place

Hallelujah! Hallelujah!

Hallelujah! Praise the Lord.

A hymn of praise.  Included in it are the reasons for our praise of God.  We are to exalt his name for he is “high above all nations”.  With highest admiration we truly ask this rhetorical question – “who is like unto our God?”  Perhaps in our prayers we can look around to see just how extensive his goodness is.  Consider this great God of our, whose “glory is above all heavens” doing the unthinkable – “humbling himself to behold the things of the earth”.  Where God had it in mind when he wrote it, my thoughts are immediately drawn to our beloved Lord Jesus Christ who left behind all greatness to humble himself, being born a mere human whose sole purpose in doing so was “to seek and save the lost”.  Is there any greater reason for our praise of God than that?
