God is with us and through his Son delivers us from evil

PSALM 109

Be Not Silent

Be not silent, O Lord, this day

When evil comes to have its day

Please come to save us by your love

And send your Son  from heav’n above

When evil came to do its worst

And when my heart’s about to burst

In times like this you’re at my side

And in your arms I will abide

What helps me best to understand

To know that you are in command

Is when your Son laid down his life

And put an end to earthly strife

God spread his love o’er all the land

He reached out with an open hand

That’s when he gave his Son in birth

And showed his love to all the earth

Faced with all the wickedness of his enemies, David does not give up on God but instead prays all the more earnestly even for his abusers.  Is this not a type of Christ whose prayer on the cross encompasses just this!!  And why pray thusly?  So that God gets the glory (v.21 – do this for your own name’s sake).
