God keeps His promises

PSALM 77

I Cry to You

I cry to you, please listen, Lord.

I lie awake, I cannot sleep
My life is filled with great discord
A watch o'er me I pray you'll keep.

REFRAIN:  Though thunder claps, through lightning snaps,
Though water rises before our eyes;
The Lord will not His promise break.
He's with you now for Jesus' sake.

When I look back to days now past

I know you will not me disown

Nor shall my troubles ever last

In Christ your love has brightly shown

REFRAIN

I’ll follow you, Lord, all my days

To you I’ll sing with endless song

I’ll fill my heart with joyous praise

To you alone I now belong.

REFRAIN

Holy, holy are you, my Lord

Your constant love to me you’ve shown.

You sent your Son, his blood outpoured

In life and death I am your own.

REFRAIN

I thank you, Lord for leading me

Upon the path that I should go.

You sent your Son to Calvary
To make that way so clear I'd know.
REFRAIN

How deeply affected the writer of this psalm is by all his troubles. However, rather than despair, he remembers God's help in the past and that encourages and comforts him in the present. What a wonderful transition can be made to the comfort Christ offers!
