PSALM 74

Turn to the Lord and There Find Joy

Turn to the Lord and there find joy

Your enemies he will destroy.

Recall we are his chosen ones

We are his daughters and his sons.

Praise to the Lord; he’s always there.

He sent his Son to us repair.

God helped the saints in ages past.

By his strong arm he held them fast.

His presence, then, they all could see.

He gave them food and made them free.

Praise to the Lord; he’s always there.

He sent his Son us to repair.

With his great might he split the sea.

Sun and stars helped his people see

He struck the ground and water ran

There he laid out for them his plan.

Praise to the Lord; he’s always there.

He sent his Son us to repair.

Now, Lord, have you forgotten me?

I know my sins cause misery.

Your anger seems to burn so hot.

Have mercy, Lord, forget me not.

Praise to the Lord; he’s always there.

He sent his Son us to repair.

For us today your Son you gave

On Calvary he died to save

From heav’n He came to take our place

And now we’re yours; saved by your grace.

Praise to the Lord; he’s always there.

He sent his Son us to repair.

In spite of the devastation caused by the enemies of the faithful, the psalmist, recalling God’s active in the past, never loses his belief in God’s help in the present
