PSALM 72

Worthy is God of All Our Praise

Worthy is God of all our praise

Anthems we sing to Him above.

He keeps the fires of faith ablaze

Our hearts renewed we share his love.

REFRAIN

Praise be to God above; for He has shown His love.

He sent His Son to save us all;

Now we respond and answer His call.

He sent his Son to save the weak.

The needy came to seek his aid.

His care includes also the meek.

To all he says: “Be not afraid”.

REFRAIN

He’s given us abundant crops.

The highland plains produce rich fruit.

His gracious care of us ne’er stops.

His love for us is absolute.

REFRAIN

Present yourself before his throne.

Sing praise to Him forevermore.

His heavenly home shall be our own.

He has so much for us in store.

REFRAIN

David writes the psalm in old age as a prayer for the successful reign of his son, Solomon, who is presented a type of Christ.  So we see the glories of Christ’s kingdom which in turn comforts David in his dying moments when he foresees the failure of Solomon to remain faithful to God.  This psalm ends with David doing his thing – praising God!
